What is Somatic Release Breathwork?
Somatic Release Breathwork is an embodiment experience created by Steven Jaggers. It takes you out of your thinking mind and into your body’s electrical network (your nervous system). It lets you release unneeded energy within this network caused by repeated thoughts, feelings and old narratives by discharging it out through the body. SRBW is a technique that utilizes the breath to help clear out suppressed emotions and stress. Breathwork is a profound tool to access the innate intelligence of our own mind and body for personal transformation.
Why is it important?
Your nervous system is the electrical network of your being. Over time, unresolved trauma or chronic stress causes dysregulation of this network. When dysregulated, difficulties in your personal or professional life arise. When you heal trauma and stress, you heal the electrical network of your nervous system. When you heal the nervous system, you heal the emotional self so your authentic self can emerge. The first step to healing trauma is to connect our minds back to our bodies. We must learn to re-member ourselves. We have to re-align our soma (body) and psyche (mind) back together. When people, clear somatically, they become clear mentally, helping them understand their purpose and their passions.
How does it work?
SRBW employs circular connected breathing coupled with rhythmic music to produce a cathartic emotional release. This release may be in the form of moving, shaking, yelling, crying, or laughing. When using the breath, you will engage your innate ability to heal and sweep out any defenses, blockages, restrictions, or pains that hold you back from who you are and how you want to show up in this world.
